3E ADVISORY SERVICES

Bankable wind resource assessment for energy project development

Reliable resource assessment for a wind renewable energy project is fundamental for securing financing, reducing uncertainty, and ensuring long-term project profitability.
For developers and independent power producers, every percentage point of uncertainty can mean millions lost in financing structures. That’s why our Wind Resource Assessment services are built to be as bankable, reliable and transparent as possible.

OUR DIFFERENT SERVICES

How we support your wind resource assessment projects

qq-plot

Wind resource assessment

A robust wind resource assessment starts with a well-designed measurement campaign. It involves translating site-specific data into a bankable estimate of long-term energy production and revenue.

At 3E, we combine high-quality wind measurements with advanced data validation, long-term correction and uncertainty analysis to characterise the wind climate at your site.

Measurement data from meteorological masts and LiDARs are assessed and integrated into wind flow and wake models to evaluate wind speed distributions, turbulence, shear and directional effects.

Energy yield assessment

Using resource data collected during the measurement campaigns, we predict the long-term energy output of wind turbines at your site.

We use top-tier micro-scale wind models to build detailed models incorporating topography, orography and site specific atmospheric behaviour.

On this, we add a layer of wind turbine performance and interaction models, together with curtailment calculations, tailored to local specificities and permit conditions.

Wind energy site suitability assessment

We ensure the selected turbines are best suited for your site and provide alternative choices where necessary.

By comparing key turbine design parameters in line with IEC 61400-1, we help deliver an optimal plant design tailored to your site’s wind conditions, from specific turbulence levels to extreme wind speed events.

Wind measurement & LiDAR rental

We deliver end-to-end wind measurement campaigns for pre-construction and operational wind farms, using our own fleet of LiDARs for flexibility and precision.

Our services include equipment procurement, installation, LiDAR rental and deployment, live data monitoring and
decommissioning, delivering high-quality wind data to validate energy production and support and informed financial decisions.

As part of our wind measurement campaign services, we provide continuous monitoring of all installed masts and LiDAR systems to ensure the quality and reliability of wind data.

Using advanced in-house digital twin tools, we track field conditions on a daily basis, allowing us to detect anomalies, identify alarms, and data/calibration drift and then intervene quickly when required.

ISO 17025 ACCREDITATION

Why work with an ISO 17025–accredited wind measurement partner?

Choosing an ISO 17025–accredited laboratory ensures that your wind measurement campaign and energy yield assessment are carried ouy with verified competence, standardised procedures and strict quality management.

Accreditation guarantees that all data collection processing and reporting follow internationally recognised methods, with full traceability and confidentiality. Your wind measurement data and wind energy yield assessment results are therefore:

  • Accurate, traceable and defensible

supported by validated procedures and documented controls.

  • Compliant with international methodologies

    (e.g., IEC 61400-50-1/2, MEASNET & TR6), ensuring global comparability.

  • Generated under impartial and transparent governance

strengthening confidence among investors, lenders, regulators and project developers.

For IPPs & asset owners

  • More reliable long-term energy yield estimates with reduced uncertainty
  • Stronger confidence during acquisitions, refinancing, and portfolio decisions
  • Consistent, accredited methodology across single projects and portfolios

What risks can arise when working with a non-accredited provider?

Data quality and bankability risks

  • Measurement methods may lack traceability, documented procedures, or impartial oversight.
  • Data may be challenged or rejected by investors, lenders, or independent engineers, threatening financing.

Compliance and regulatory risks

  • Wind resource assessments may not align with internationally recognised standards (IEC/MEASNET).
  • Missing documentation, inadequate procedures, or poor data integrity can impede permitting or due-diligence reviews.

Financial risks

  • Incorrect or poorly controlled measurements can lead to inaccurate energy yield estimates, affecting project valuation and ROI.
  • Errors or non-compliant procedures often require repeating campaigns, resulting in significant additional costs and delays.

Operational and governance risks

  • Non-accredited providers may not operate under a system that ensures impartiality, documented responsibilities, or consistent technical practices.
  • Higher risk of misinterpretation, inconsistent methodologies, and unverified processes that compromise decision-making across the project lifecycle.
